WordPress to Webflow for Belgium's Digital Dentistry Partner

Bescan needed more than a migration. They needed a site their team could manage in three languages, their SEO partner could build on, and their customers across Belgium and Luxembourg could actually trust. We rebuilt it on Webflow with native localization, brand pages, a product catalog, and full GDPR compliance.

The story

Why a Belgian digital dentistry distributor outgrew WordPress

Nicolas Ravets started Bescan in 2016 to bring the best digital dentistry equipment to dental practices and labs across Belgium and Luxembourg. Intraoral scanners, CBCT imaging, CAD/CAM systems, 3D printers. The full digital workflow. He built the original website himself on WordPress. It worked. For a while.

The site was in French with Weglot handling automatic translation into English and Dutch. Nicolas had 22 product pages, an about page, a contact page, and a growing sense that the whole thing was getting harder to manage. His SEO and Google Ads partner, a local agency, agreed. They wanted to add pages, restructure content, and optimize. But doing that on the existing WordPress setup meant fighting the platform at every turn.

Nicolas reached out looking for someone to migrate the site to Webflow. What he actually needed was a complete rethink: proper content architecture, native multilingual support that wasn't bolted on, brand pages for each manufacturer, a product catalog that could grow, and GDPR compliance that would hold up under European law. The WordPress site was the starting point, not the blueprint.

The challenge

What wasn't working on the old WordPress site

Performance score of 54 on mobile. Product images were unoptimized and the WordPress theme was bloated
Weglot translation layer added latency and gave limited control over localized content
No dedicated brand pages. Manufacturers like Diagnocat, Imes-Icore, and Shining 3D had no presence on the site
Product catalog was a flat list with no filtering by category or brand
No blog or news section to support the SEO partner's content strategy
Missing FAQ section. Common questions from dentists went unanswered on the site
No cookie consent banner or GDPR-compliant privacy setup
Contact form had no subject categorization. All inquiries landed in one pile
No legal notice or privacy policy page
The site needed to serve three languages (French, English, Dutch) but translations were automatic and often inaccurate

The solution

WordPress to Webflow migration with multilingual CMS

01

Template Selection & Brand Customization

Nicolas found the Gadgeta template. We customized it to match Bescan's identity: dark backgrounds, cyan accents, clean product photography on white. The template gave us a solid e-commerce-style layout that worked perfectly for a product catalog without actual checkout.
02

Content Architecture & Product Catalog

We restructured the site from a flat WordPress layout into dedicated sections: product pages organized by category and brand, individual brand pages for Diagnocat, Imes-Icore, Shining 3D, Borea Dental, Ray Medical, and Bondent. Added a blog with category filtering, an FAQ section, and an About page that positioned Bescan as a local partner, not a faceless distributor.
03

Native Multilingual Setup

Replaced the Weglot translation layer with Webflow's native localization. French, English, and Dutch, each with properly translated content, not machine-generated guesses. This gave Nicolas and his SEO partner full control over what each language version actually says. That matters when you're selling specialized medical equipment.
04

GDPR Compliance & Legal Framework

Built a full cookie consent system with Accept All, Reject All, and Customize Preferences options. Non-essential cookies blocked by default. Added privacy notices below every form, created a dedicated Legal Notice & Privacy Policy page, and configured the contact form with subject categorization so inquiries route properly.
The results

Performance and accessibility gains after migration

01
PERFORMANCE

Page Speed 54 → 76

Moved off a bloated WordPress theme onto a clean Webflow build. Image optimization and removal of the Weglot JavaScript layer brought mobile performance from red into the mid-range.
02
ACCESSIBILITY

Accessibility 85 → 97

Proper heading hierarchy, form labels, alt text on product images, and ARIA attributes across the new build. From a passing grade to near-perfect.
03
LOCALIZATION

3 Native Languages

French, English, and Dutch, all managed natively in Webflow. No third-party translation layer, no JavaScript overhead, no guessing what the Dutch version actually says.
04
CONTENT

6 Brand Pages + Blog + FAQ

Each manufacturer now has a dedicated page with product listings, key features, and brand story. The blog and FAQ sections give the SEO partner the content infrastructure they were asking for.

Why migration is more than a platform swap

A lot of WordPress-to-Webflow migrations are treated as lift-and-shift operations. Copy the pages, match the layout, swap the CMS. That's a missed opportunity. The reason Nicolas wanted to move platforms wasn't because WordPress is bad. It's because his business had outgrown what his self-built site could do. The migration was the excuse to fix the actual problems: content structure, multilingual management, and the ability for his partners to build on top of the site without calling a developer every time.

The coordination was a three-way effort. Nicolas provided the product knowledge and brand relationships. His SEO agency shaped the content strategy and page structure. We handled the build, the template customization, and the technical details: localization, GDPR compliance, performance. That kind of collaboration works when everyone stays in their lane and communicates clearly. In this case, it did.
